A recent jaunt to Poole in Dorset uncovered some very interesting 50’s and 60’s architecture. It seems that the City underwent a lot of redevelopment during this time, and I think one of the reasons I’m drawn to buildings of this period is the experimentation, complex structures and innovation. There seemed to be more freedom to create a futuristic design, and I find real beauty in the vision. Most of these buildings were Local Authority creations, imagine any Council trying to get away with anything so radical in the modern conservative climate. Anyhow, this image is of a carpark in Poole, love the exterior, but also the ceiling inside.
